Job Description
At Agile Defense, we seek a Senior Cyber Threat Emulation (TE) SME to support a federal agency. This role involves running the offensive side of a purple team, focusing on comprehensive computer network defense, incident response, and cybersecurity support. The TE SME will develop and execute real-world threat simulations, identify vulnerabilities, and enhance defensive measures.
- Develop and write custom scripts, payloads, and system backdoors to simulate attacker behavior.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of network and host data to detect and respond to threats.
- Engage with senior leadership to provide insights and recommendations for improving cybersecurity posture.
- Research and map cyber key terrain to prioritize target lists for threat emulation.
- Collaborate with other teams to gather information and improve threat detection capabilities.
- Provide regular reports on threat emulation activities and their impact on security operations.
- Mentor and train junior analysts to enhance overall team effectiveness.
Required Skills
- At least 7 years of experience in cyber offensive operations, red team work, and penetration testing.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Strong analytical and technical skills in computer network defense.
- Experience with threat intelligence, intrusion detection systems, and security information event management platforms.
- Proficiency in Python, Rust, PowerShell, or similar programming languages.
- Knowledge of advanced persistent threats and emerging threats.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- One or more certifications in CND Analysts, malware analysts, or related fields.
- Experience with big data analytics, endpoint threat detection, and SIEM tools.
- Familiarity with scripting languages and software development frameworks.
Education and Background
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree in information technology, cyber security, computer science, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Corporate Duties
The contractor will also be responsible for researching emerging threats, mapping cyber key terrain, and engaging with other agency offices to support threat emulation activities. They will also be involved in developing and writing scripts, payloads, and system backdoors to simulate attacker behavior, and will provide regular reports on threat emulation successes.
Working Conditions
The role is primarily sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting and occasional standing or walking. The office environment is generally favorable, with adequate lighting and temperature control. Standard office equipment is available.
