Pendleton Place Shift Supervisor

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide supportive pre-engagement and engagement activities, including problem-solving, client education, resource referral, appointment reminders, and other obligations.
  • Aid in addressing any barriers that may exist.
  • Offer motivational counseling, resident advocacy, education, reminder calls, and outreach to encourage and facilitate residents’ ability to connect with behavioral health treatment services.
  • Arrange for interpreters (including spoken language and ASL) as needed.
  • Assist with setting up Paratransit or provide education on the Kitsap Transit system to assist clients with removing transportation barriers for community engagement.
  • Aid in finding and effectively using primary care physicians and dentists to develop health self-management skills.
  • Work with the team to coordinate psychiatric care with medical care as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention counseling and coordinate with the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) when appropriate.
  • Document resident progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to contract guidelines and established policies and procedures.
  • Aid in developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals and plans in collaboration with the Treatment Team.
  • Use clinical judgment and be proficient with de-escalation skills to remain calm and effective when working with residents of all ages who may be distressed or experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
  • Participate in providing information to residents on substance use issues such as mental health, physical health, and daily functioning.
  • Coordinate treatment with internal and external substance use treatment providers.
  • Participate in Treatment Team meetings as appropriate for resident care.
  • Aid clients with resources and education to support their autonomy and basic needs.
  • Act as an "on-call" staff member to assist and support other Pendleton Place staff for urgent matters and fill in when call-outs arise.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field. High school diploma or GED accepted with 4+ years of relevant job experience.
  • Experience: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience).

  • None

Experience

  • Specialist (5+ years of relevant experience): Previous experience in supervision or leadership of a team.

Knowledge

  • Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental health, including health care reform and automation of job tasks using computer technology.

Skills

  • Communication: Ensure quality service to the public by communicating in a sensitive, respectful, and knowledgeable manner. Contribute toward developing and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with KMHS programs, other public or private agencies, and the public to enhance the agency's overall mission and goals.
  • Computer skills: Proficient with computers and able to concurrently enter data into an electronic medical record with speed and accuracy while speaking with consumers face-to-face or over the telephone.

Abilities

  • Ability to participate as an integral member of the Pendleton Place Team.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Able to assist in building positive working relationships with staff of all agency departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to be comfortable and practical with assisting a diverse population of individuals across the lifespan with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness or Serious Emotional Disturbance and who may be in crisis.

Equipment Operated

  • Standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

Work Environment

  • Office, outreach.

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • While performing the job duties, the employee must walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, or listen.
  • Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.
