Pega Architect

About the role

We are seeking a Pega Architect for a W2 contract position located onsite in Austin, TX. The role focuses on deep customization of Pega applications, externalizing services to Kafka and OpenSearch, and leveraging strong Java/J2EE expertise to build scalable, high‑performance solutions for store/retail platforms.

Responsibilities

• Customize Pega to suit specific application needs beyond out‑of‑the‑box functionality
• Externalize Pega services to Apache Kafka and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch clusters
• Develop custom Java/J2EE applications and integrations
• Ensure deep Pega customization and adherence to best practices
• Work on store/retail applications, including custom UI components, complex state management, and offline capabilities
• Migrate internal Pega services to external Kafka and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
• Architect robust REST/SOAP integrations and manage data transformations between Pega and legacy retail systems
• Tune application performance and memory management for high‑concurrency environments
• Enforce strict Pega Guardrails while maintaining high‑quality Java code standards through peer reviews
• Design scalable class structures and data models to support multi‑layered business logic
• Utilize Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines (Deployment Manager/Jenkins) for deployment
• Lead technical troubleshooting and provide architectural guidance for mission‑critical store platforms
