About the Role

The Judicial Department works to provide equal access to justice, contribute to public safety, and strengthen the rule of law across Colorado. The Peer Training Specialist provides onboarding and localized training to court employees within their district, handles training-related projects, and implements statewide procedural changes. This position requires travel to all seven counties within the 13th Judicial District.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and administers local onboarding plans, including introducing new employees to local resources, facilities, and personnel.
  • Trains employees using hands-on direction and verbal coaching for court case processing, including local practices.
  • Shadows employees during court dockets, workstation tasks, and interactions with court customers, providing repeated opportunities to apply learned skills.
  • Reviews demonstrated work and provides feedback on employee work products.
  • Schedules observation time in courtrooms and/or clerk’s offices.
  • Assists in scheduling formal training for HR-mandatory classes and court education training for staff.
  • Mentors new or underperforming employees or teams, informs supervisors of performance issues, and helps implement improvement plans.
  • Reinforces formal training for all court employees and utilizes training activities created by Court Education Specialists.
  • Analyzes current training and provides feedback and recommendations to training creators/specialists.
  • Creates and maintains local work resources and job aids, and promotes their use.
  • Works with data integrity reports and tracks local district adherence.
  • Serves as a district liaison with the State Court Administrator’s Office, including Court Services, Court Education Specialists, the CORE Unit, and Distance Learning Units.
  • Attends meetings, trainings, classes, and conferences to maintain knowledge, skills, and awareness of legislative changes.
  • Participates in all state Peer Training Specialist programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including providing guidance and potentially overseeing another employee’s work quality, training, and assignments.
  • Provides advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or policies, using persuasion to gain cooperation.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience in court processes and court data management systems (substituted year-for-year for formal education).
  • At least two (2) years of experience with court processes and court data management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in training employees on work duties.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to all seven counties within the 13th Judicial District.
  • Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing.
  • Exposure to individuals who may be hostile, irate, or have known violent backgrounds.
  • Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.

Physical Demands

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Negligible force frequently required for lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects, including the human body.
