Peer Support Specialist

About the role

Assist peers in articulating recovery goals and learning/practicing new skills, supporting them in their treatment and advocating themselves for services. Share personal recovery stories to show that recovery is attainable. Serve as a mentor to clients to promote hope and personal empowerment. Exemplify recovery principles for clients. May assist with transportation, groups, behavioral health providers, MRT classes, or care coordinators and reentry specialists. Mentor clients, coordinate client care, and serve as a healthcare advocate for clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist peers in articulating recovery goals and learning/practicing new skills
• Support peers in their treatment and self-advocacy for services
• Share personal recovery stories to demonstrate attainable recovery
• Serve as a mentor to clients to promote hope and personal empowerment
• Exemplify recovery principles for clients
• Assist with transportation, groups, behavioral health providers, MRT classes, care coordinators, and reentry specialists
• Coordinate client care
• Serve as a healthcare advocate for clients

Requirements

• High school diploma and 1 year of related experience
• Must have passed Kentucky Adult Peer Support Specialist training and received Kentucky certification
• Good data entry skills and ability to exercise discretion while maintaining confidentiality
• Compliance with all HIPAA regulations and strict adherence to confidentiality measures
• Valid driver’s license

Pay

Posted salary: $25,000 - $30,000 per year (or as listed in the original posting).
