About the role
The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery based supportive services for Coastal Horizons clients to assist them in pursuing and achieving health, wellness, & recovery goals. The Peer Support Specialist will provide support to incarcerated individuals seeking treatment to streamline individuals into treatment, provide resources, and engage at the onset of treatment services.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate care
- Transport clients if needed
- Track recovery support services provided
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or higher, combined with knowledge of wellness and recovery-based concepts
- Personal experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment, or some equivalent experience preferred
- Must have peer support specialist certification
Position Highlights
- Promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, involvement and engagement with wellness services and recovery support, and engagement with primary care.
- Completes documentation of services, engages in ongoing continuing education for professional development, and works in a variety of settings.
- Affords assistance in a variety of ways – recovery support, sharing of lived experience, resource acquisition, coordination of care.
