About the role
The Peer Support Assistant provides peer-based support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, leveraging personal lived experience and empathy to foster trust and rapport.
Responsibilities
- Offer emotional support to participants
- Navigate available services for participants
- Aid in planning and executing participant activities
- Assess and address resource needs
- Maintain a safe, welcoming environment
- Support group activities or workshops
- Collaborate with staff to identify participant needs
Requirements
- Experience living in homelessness
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passion for supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some college coursework or relevant experience preferred
