Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Lived experience with Behavioral Health Services
- Ability to advocate for self and others
- Ability to communicate clearly, including active listening
- Knowledge of recovery approaches
- The ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing 40 lbs.
- Able to legally operate a vehicle in NY State
Responsibilities
- Work toward completing NYS Certified Peer Specialist credential
- Provide peer-to-peer support
- Share common experiences
- Participate in care planning
- Provide transportation
- Facilitate community orientation/integration
- Actively participate in scheduled supervision
- Facilitate support groups
- Assist others in recovery based on individual need and cultural considerations
- Participate in all required training
- Represent the Agency and program in the community and with other service providers
- Regular and substantial contact with individuals receiving support
- Perform other related tasks as directed by supervisor
