About the role

Our mission is to change and save lives across New Jersey through a Trauma Informed Care culture. As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, you will work with DCPP-involved adults with substance use disorders in Hunterdon County. Client participation in this program is voluntary. Peers assist clients with recovery goals and connect them to local resources such as mutual support meetings, social services, and food/diaper banks. You will serve as a sober advocate and must have at least two (2) years of continuous sobriety.
Location: Office 92 East Main Street, Suite 101, Somerville, NJ 08876. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regular contact with clients
- Conduct verbal conferences with DCPP and other involved providers
- Maintain required documentation of client progress
- Meet with clients in the community and provide transportation when appropriate
- Assist in establishing and sustaining a social and physical environment supportive of recovery
- Enhance identification and participation in the recovery community
- Educate parents/caregivers on navigating treatment, social service, and recovery support systems
- Serve as a positive role model by sharing knowledge, hope, and skills

Requirements
- At least 2 continuous years of sustained recovery
- CPRS certification preferred
- Working knowledge of substance use disorders and local recovery resources
- High school diploma or equivalency; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
Required Training
The Department of Children and Families approved Peer Recovery Support Service training, including Ethics and Division of Child Protection and Permanency. Additional trainings may include: Domestic Violence (DV), Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking, Psychological First Aid, and all agency-specific trainings.

Pay
Starting salary: $37,000.00.
