General Responsibilities
To work with substance abuse and/or other mental health related program participants in groups and/or on a one-on-one basis to provide advocacy and personal coaching/mentoring.
To serve as a vital member of the case management team.
Additional Duties
- Screening and Assessment
- Assist in the orientation process for participants who are new to the program
- Assist in the scheduling of assessments as required
- Participant Monitoring
- Maintain group and individual supportive interaction with participants, their families, and social supports. Includes facilitation of recovery support groups as assigned.
- Keep case management team informed of participant's strengths, accomplishments, and obstacles in relation to their recovery goals
- Aid in linkage to community recovery support as requested
Advocacy
- Complete all required documentation in a timely manner
- Carry out duties as a member of the team, under the direction of the Program Administrator
- Provide education and advocacy within the community and agency that promotes awareness of substance abuse disorders and criminal thinking while reducing misconceptions, prejudice, and discrimination.
Preferred
- Peer Recovery Support Certification from ADMH
Education
- High School diploma or GED
- One (1) year of relevant experience in a peer recovery support environment required
Licenses/Certifications
- Certified or eligible to be certified as a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) by The Alabama Department of Mental Health
- Certified Peer Support Specialist through FORMLL
- Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) by the Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC)
Pay
Hourly Range: $15.00 - $21.15
