Responsibilities
- Aids clients in setting and achieving wellness and healthy lifestyle goals.
- Shares resources for wellness, recovery, and healthy lifestyles with clients, families, and team members.
- Uses self-disclosure to inspire and motivate others.
- Schedules and assists with appointments.
- Provides support and advocacy during appointments and follow-up needs.
- Teaches and assists clients, families, and significant others based on their needs.
- Facilitates individual and group-based wellness and recovery activities.
- Assesses and intervenes in crisis situations.
- Mentors and serves as a role model.
- Participates as a treatment team member.
- Collaborates from a peer provider perspective.
- Offers individualized services through various methods.
- Attends supervision meetings and follows through with recommendations.
- Collaborates with other providers to identify and monitor needs and outcomes.
- Engages in the Plan Do Check Act process.
- Fulfills clinical documentation requirements within the required timeframe.
- Displays critical judgment and decision-making aligned with professional guidelines, ethical standards, and available resources.
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA standards.
- Participates in training and ongoing staff development.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year experience in substance use and/or mental health field.
- Peer specialist/provider training.
- Personal lived experience with substance use and/or mental health recovery.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Associates degree or higher in psychiatric rehabilitation, wellness coaching, or a related field preferred.
- National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) and/or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) licenses preferred.
- Valid NJ driver's license.
