About the role
The Peer Recovery Specialist will work with individuals experiencing chemical dependency problems and/or mental health issues, providing general treatment support and recovery maintenance through Avivo's Multicultural Recovery Coaching Initiative.
Responsibilities
- Ensure high quality, mission-driven services and outcomes in a safe recovery environment.
- Provide provision of general treatment support and recovery maintenance.
- Actively participate in the division’s Trauma Informed Care Initiative and motivational interviewing.
- Support and implement evidence-based practices related to specific program area.
- Promote health and wellness activities with participants.
- Operate Avivo van for transportation of participants.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 1-year experience working with individuals experiencing chemical dependency problems and/or mental health issues.
- Certification: Current credential from the Minnesota Certification Board, the Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders, or the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.
- Completion of Recovery Coach Training and certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) through the Minnesota Certification Board (MCB).
- Minimum of one year freedom from alcohol and chemical abuse/addiction.
- Experience with and/or commitment to working in a diverse, continuum of services in a fast-paced, growing organization.
- Experience with and/or a demonstrated commitment to developing and delivering culturally responsive services.
- Previous work experience in a behavioral health setting and/or residential treatment.
- Experience with programs serving individuals with dual diagnoses.
- Experience working in outpatient treatment.
- Experience using Credible Electronic Health Record.
