Peer/Recovery Mentor - Part Time

Responsibilities

  • Carry out duties as a member of the team under the direction of the Program Manager
  • Provide a safe, clean, inviting environment for all members
  • Be prepared to serve as host/guide for new or potential members, including giving a tour of the facility, completing membership paperwork, and helping the person feel welcomed and a part of the group
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times
  • Aid members to develop their own recovery plan, help members understand their diagnosis and steps to facilitate their own plan
  • Organize and lead program groups and recreational activities to help members structure their time, increase social experiences and provide opportunities to practice social skills
  • Absorb members who have experienced social stigmatization with their sense of self-acceptance, affiliation and belonging
  • Recruit and assist members to volunteer as a way to increase their ownership at Bridges
  • Aid members to plan, make, serve and clean up from lunch each day
  • Work with Data Specialist to ensure accurate data is being collected
  • Willing to continue with own recovery process and communicate personal recovery needs if any

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, in the English language
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Must carry own auto insurance with at least 100,000/300,000/100,000 coverage
  • Ability to maintain records and document case notes daily
  • Ability to give and accept feedback as a part of a team
  • Ability to traverse within the workspace and community frequently
  • Be willing to learn and work with the treatment philosophies
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Personal aptitude to work with individuals with a severe and persistent mental health issues
  • A history of a mental health issues with significant progress in his/her own recovery, preferred
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Complete own recover/WRAP plan and discuss with Program Director
  • Willing to learn and follow guidelines and procedure of KHDS Recovery Philosophies
  • Ability to regularly ask, for, give, receive and implement feedback regarding programming and job performance
