About the role
Peer Navigator provides support and supervises the youth within the program utilizing their lived experiences while performing home-life training, assisting with, and participating in therapeutic activities and completing supportive record-keeping functions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of a group treatment team with the responsibility for ensuring each youth person successfully completes the goals set forth in their housing plan.
- Assist the young people with daily life activities.
- Lead, supervise, and participate in recreational activities.
- Conduct life-skills groups to youth in the program on a weekly basis.
- Provide assistance with controlling disruptive behavior using agency approved methods of de-escalation and crisis intervention.
- Collaborate with other staff in planning for the group or its individual members and participate in making decisions.
- Organize and maintain case notes, assessments, case summaries, case records, and other related records as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- Must have "lived experience" with homelessness, mental health, substance use disorder, or psychological trauma
