About the Role

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a candidate for a full-time non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor position in the Division of Neonatology.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and participating in original research, either basic or translational, for which extramural funding should be sought
  • Designing and conducting experiments
  • Collecting and interpreting data for presentation to and review with the PI
  • Assisting in project planning and timing management
  • Devoting 100% effort to basic science research focused on the development of basic science research foci including: Novel gene discovery by reanalysis of undiagnosed rare diseases and evaluation of the underlying mechanisms of rarer diseases using patient-derived cells and animal models.
  • Integrate novel omics (including (but not limited to): genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, phosphoproteomics, and interactome) in combination with traditional techniques to decipher the underlying mechanisms of various rare diseases
  • Principal Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:
  • Developing and executing innovative research ideas under the close mentorship of the PI
  • Administering laboratory duties in conjunction with the Lab Manager and PI
  • Submitting articles for peer reviewed publications
  • Presenting research results at scientific meetings

Requirements

Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or DVM degree with demonstrated basic, clinical, and/or translational research experience, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must have a strong track record of working efficiently independently and as part of a collaborative group.
