Full‑time Pediatrician position in the community at Cowichan District Hospital.

Facility Information

Cowichan District Hospital is a 148‑bed acute‑care facility with a collegial atmosphere among general and specialty medical staff. The hospital serves a thriving community in Duncan, offering a varied pediatric practice alongside Family Practitioners, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, General & Subspecialty Internists, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pathology, and Radiology.

A new Cowichan District Hospital, expected to be completed in 2027, will add over 203 inpatient beds, expanded operating‑room and ICU capacity, and state‑of‑the‑art equipment and design.

The medical staff is affiliated with the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program and participates in teaching medical students and residents.

Qualifications

• FRCPC or FRCPC‑eligible.
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

Compensation

• Fee‑for‑Service model.
• Fee Premium: 4.20%.
• Annual Flat Fee: $4,834.80.
• Retention Flat Fee: $6,509.
• Rural Continuing Medical Education funding: $3,000 per year in years 3 & 4, increasing to a maximum of $6,000 per year after four years.

Benefits and Incentives

• Relocation assistance up to $15,000.
• Recruitment incentive of $10,000.
• Additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidy Agreement (RSA).
