Position Summary The Pediatrician will provide medical care for patients, newborn to young adult, to maintain their health, diagnose and treat illness, and monitor their development. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Diagnose and treat illnesses, medical conditions, injuries and emergenciesOrder, preform, and interpret diagnostic testsCollect, record and maintain patients' information and historiesPrescribe and administer treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other specialized medical careExplain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients and family membersNotify patients of laboratory and radiology results and document the conversationMonitor patients' conditions and progressDirect, coordinate, consult with and refer patients to other health care providersAdvise patients, parents, and guardians on diets, activities, hygiene, and disease preventionRemain up to date on current trends, discoveries, and developments in the fieldConduct and/or participate in quality improvement projects and other projects within the departmentSupervise health care offered by Mid-Level Medical Practitioners and other non-physician medical staffServe as an on-call pediatrician in rotation with the other pediatriciansMaintain timely, accurate documentation on all medical records in compliance with established guidelines and policies Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership Qualifications Must be a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) having successfully completed an accredited Undergraduate Program, Internship, and Residency ProgramMust be Board Certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics, or equivalentMust have and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).Must have and maintain a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate, South Carolina Medical License and South Carolina Controlled Substance License
