Responsibilities

Provides care and management of the wound and ostomy pediatric patient.

Partners with the wound/skin/ostomy care team.

Coordinates and manages patient care to pediatric patients and families within a continuum of care.

Delegates patient activities as appropriate.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams.

Communicates with patients, family, and staff.

Evaluates quality outcomes.

Requirements

  • Part time: 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
  • Daytime hours: 8 hour shifts with some required Monday and Fridays but must have some flexibility with work hours to meet patient care needs.
  • Location: Milwaukee Hospital

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's Degree BSN preferred
  • 2+ years nursing experience required
  • 3-4 years nursing experience in pediatric nursing preferred
  • Wound and Ostomy certification through the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society preferred
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required
  • RN-Registered Nurse (30) - State of Wisconsin - required

Skills

  • Knowledge of the principles of neonatal, pediatric and adolescent growth and development and child/family responses to fear, illness, injury and hospitalization.
  • Analytical skills necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively and to develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Synthesizes multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of human responses to complex problems.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with interdisciplinary health team members and consumers.
  • The ability to represent the organization and serve consumers in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the organization and its services.
  • Mental and sensory abilities to read, process and interpret clinical data.
