About the role
Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their growing Pediatric Trauma Surgery team. This is a shift-based position, including rotating weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Perform a thorough history and physical assessment
- Evaluate, assess, implement plans and monitor other co-morbid medical conditions secondary to critical illness and injury
- Work closely with trauma surgeons and critical care teams to solve complex clinical cases
- Perform a variety of surgical procedures after privileging by Medical Staff, including: chest tube placement, placement of central and arterial lines, laceration repairs and I&D etc.
- Manage already admitted pediatric trauma patients
- Attend pediatric trauma codes in the Peds ED with trauma attendings
- Admit to the floor or ICU as clinically indicated
- Perform procedures and assist in the OR
Requirements
- Must have or be eligible for a DEA license
- Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works
- Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required
- BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice
- Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions
- Current PALS and ATLS preferred
Qualifications
- Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required, master's degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred. 1 Year experience required
- Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner: Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. Pediatric Acute Care board certification required based upon population and acuity served. 1 Year experience as a PNP-AC required
