Pediatric Registered Nurse (Community-based)

Responsibilities

• Participate in ongoing research studies in the Vaccine Research Unit relating to respiratory illnesses such as influenza and COVID-19, phase 1-3 vaccine studies, studies in therapeutic agents in both adults and pediatric populations.
• Work independently, possess strong interpersonal skills in communicating with adult subjects and their families, their health care providers, and hospital staff at Strong, Highland and RGH, and develop the logistics of subject enrollment.
• Persistence and flexibility in assuring ongoing subject cooperation and good data collection skills.
• Occasionally travel to private medical offices and Urgent Care facilities in the Rochester area to enroll potential subjects and obtain required samples.

Qualifications

• NYS Nursing license (RN or NP) and a bachelor's degree with major course work in an appropriate health, social or similar field and a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work experience (pediatric nursing, counseling, public health, community-based programming, etc.) required.
• Certification in Asthma Education (AE-C®), as well as advanced knowledge of guideline-based clinical asthma care preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with local, community-based healthcare systems and/or programs serving historically marginalized children and families required.
• Flexible, empathetic, effective engagement with diverse children, adolescents and caregivers required.
• Efficient in prioritizing assignments, problem-solving, and continuous quality improvement recommended.
• Background in clinical and translational research, including study design and implementation preferred.

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
