Pediatric Psychologist (Ph.D., Psy.D.)

About the role

The CU DCAMH, PMHI, and CHCO have combined to transform children’s mental health care in Colorado, building a coordinated system, grounded in collaboration and partnership, that provides all children with high-quality, evidence-based, youth- and family-centered care through an ambitious and comprehensive strategic plan.

Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral health services (individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and family-based support/intervention) to children and adolescents with medical and psychological diagnoses who are admitted to MDT.
• Consult with pediatric medical teams at CHCO to address behavioral health and environmental factors that impact child well-being including adherence to medical recommendations, adjustment to medical diagnosis and treatment, mental health concerns, behavioral difficulties, developmental considerations, and family factors.
• Collaborate with medical teams, allied health professionals, and resource partners including social work, family navigators, and community health professionals to deliver comprehensive, team-based care.
• Use evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches for children and adolescents presenting with a wide range of medical, behavioral, developmental, and mental health concerns.
• Contribute to the DOP teaching and scholarship in ways consistent with the expectations of CU faculty, advancing the standing of the Department.
• Engage in service to the department, hospital, and local/regional/national organizations.
• Maintain eligibility for CU faculty appointment.

Qualifications

• Minimum degree qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D.
• At the time of hire, applicants must have a Colorado Psychologist License or be eligible for licensure within the state of Colorado.
• Completed an APA-approved doctoral training program, including an APA-approved internship.
• Experience working with youth with chronic medical health needs and their families.
• Experience working collaboratively with medical providers, community organizations, and schools, to support youth with medical and mental health needs.
• Demonstrated skills using evidence-based treatment models including but not limited to motivational interviewing, consultation models, and flexible application of behavioral and developmental interventions to address medical and mental health concerns.
• Experience working in an academic medical center.
• Experience working in an APA-accredited psychology training program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for clinical information sharing, training and supervision, and presentations/education to community audiences.
• Experience supervising, teaching, and training psychology trainees as well as other learners (e.g., medical students, nursing students).
• Experience working with diverse pediatric populations.

Pay

• Hiring Range: Instructor, Senior Instructor: $105,000 to $120,000
• Assistant Professor: $110,000 to $135,000
• Associate Professor: $140,000 to $175,000
• Professor: $180,000 to $240,000

Schedule

The MDT program is an in-person program serving patients five days per week. MDT and an OP clinic location are located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
