Responsibilities

  • Reviews drug orders and prescriptions to ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication use.
  • Optimizes medication preparation and resolves medication-related problems.
  • Prepares and dispenses medications, provides drug information, and manages medication therapy in compliance with regulations and hospital policies.
  • Supervises support personnel and verifies the accuracy of all medications prepared by them before dispensing.

Requirements

  • Specialized knowledge of rules and regulations and ability to apply them in complex situations.
  • Expertise and advanced knowledge of quality assurance techniques.
  • Ability to explain ambiguous or unclear rules and regulations.
  • Proficient understanding of computers and applications used to support medication use processes.
  • Basic proficiency in reviewing, preparing, and dispensing prescribed medications, including aseptic technique.
  • Knowledge and experience in medication management, including monitoring therapeutic duplication and interpreting patient laboratory results.
  • Able to mentor and coach others, providing constructive feedback and removing roadblocks to success.

Qualifications

  • LIC-Pharmacist License - Tennessee
  • Relevant work experience, less than 1 year required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or related field.

Schedule

The position can vary among a variety of shift times to cover scheduling gaps and PTO. Current needs are primarily midmorning to closing shifts. Weekend rotation requirement of every 6 weeks with hours of 3:00pm - 11:00pm.
