Job Duties
- Delivers excellent family-centered patient care, aiming to support functional goals and needs of the patient and their family.
- Assesses and interprets evaluations and test results; determines occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Carries out a treatment plan that supports functional improvement across the lifespan.
- Administers occupational therapy treatment; directs treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.
- Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributes to patient care conferences.
- Maintains continuity of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructs, encourages, and assists patients in performing physical activities.
- Documents patient care services in patient and department records.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Develops occupational therapy staff by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training programs.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Participates effectively as a member of the IEP team, but providing these services as part of a comprehensive education plan and in accordance with the written IEP.
Requirements
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state of California.
Current CPR certification.
Experience with pediatric populations preferred.
Qualifications
