Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Orthopedics

About the role

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join the Orthopedic team in Milford, DE.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive patient assessments including history and physical examinations
• Formulating assessment and treatment plans of pediatric patients
• Ordering diagnostic tests
• Performing procedures such as pin removal, suturing and suture removal, splinting and cast application and removal, joint injection or aspiration, and manipulative fracture reduction
• Communicating with physicians about changes in patient’s clinical condition and results of diagnostic studies
• Educating parents/caregivers on patient condition and plan of care
• Triage and respond to phone calls from patient families, physical therapists, insurance companies, and others regarding patient care
• Accurately record patient information in the electronic medical record
• Communicate effectively with appropriate medical staff for purposes of consultation, referral, and coordination of patient care

Requirements

• Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants/Current appropriate national certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner
• Clear and active license as a Physician Assistant in Delaware, Delaware (or compact state)
• RN licensure & Delaware APRN Licensure
• Active Maryland licensure preferred but can be obtained once hired
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• One to three years of experience required; pediatric experience preferred
