About the role
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join the Orthopedic team in Milford, DE.
Responsibilities
- Comprehensive patient assessments including history and physical examinations
- Formulating assessment and treatment plans of pediatric patients
- Ordering diagnostic tests
- Performing procedures such as pin removal, suturing and suture removal, splinting and cast application and removal, joint injection or aspiration, and manipulative fracture reduction
- Communicating with physicians about changes in patient’s clinical condition and results of diagnostic studies
- Educating parents/caregivers on patient condition and plan of care
- Triage and respond to phone calls from patient families, physical therapists, insurance companies, and others regarding patient care
- Accurately record patient information in the electronic medical record
- Communicate effectively with appropriate medical staff for purposes of consultation, referral, and coordination of patient care
Requirements
- Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants/Current appropriate national certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner
- Clear and active license as a Physician Assistant in Delaware, Delaware (or compact state)
- RN licensure & Delaware APRN Licensure
- Active Maryland licensure preferred but can be obtained once hired
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- One to three years of experience required; pediatric experience preferred
