Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician
Position Overview
The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician with interest and experience in antibiotic stewardship and/or hospital epidemiology. Responsibilities
- Provide clinical consultation on the inpatient service and in the Infectious Diseases Clinic.
- Play a major role in the antimicrobial stewardship program, including development of a novel tele‑stewardship program.
- Conduct clinical activities at Primary Children’s Hospital (290‑bed), the University of Utah, and Intermountain Healthcare systems.
- Engage in academic work such as investigation, education, administration/service, and advocacy.
- Develop an independent research career or focus on quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and fellows within a division that includes nine full‑time faculty, one adjunct, two nurse practitioners, one RN, and two infectious disease/stewardship pharmacists.
- Participate in research areas including infectious disease epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship, health‑services research, diagnostic test development (metagenomics, deep sequencing), and care of children with cancer and transplants.
- Maintain active collaborations with CDC‑funded antimicrobial stewardship epicenter, state and county health departments, and other research partners.
Qualifications
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Infectious Diseases or Infectious Diseases.
- Demonstrated research, quality‑improvement, or other scholarly activity.
- Interest and/or experience in antibiotic stewardship and/or hospital epidemiology.
