Pediatric Hospitalist APP - Blank Children's Hospital - Des Moines, IA

Responsibilities

• Provides routine care and management of hospitalized patients in the newborn nursery (level 1 and 2) at Methodist West and Trinity Fort Dodge, as well as inpatient pediatric coverage in both Des Moines and Trinity.
• Rotating schedule that includes a mix of day and night shifts, specific locations depend on operational needs.
• Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary.
• Documents findings in accurate, systematic form and maintains appropriate documentation in the EMR.
• Utilizes data to identify areas of improvement, monitor progress, and design/implement initiatives which can make a positive impact on the care of newborn or inpatient pediatric patients.
• Accepts responsibility to maintain and develop own skill and knowledge in the clinical area of expertise—pediatrics and newborn care.
• Provides specialty specific patient-family teaching and counseling based on needs, and in collaboration with the care team.
• Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff, and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

• PNP-AC
• One or more years of experience as a nurse in pediatrics preferred
• Current Iowa License to practice as a Registered Nurse and as an ARNP
• Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
• NRP & PALS
• Valid driver's license
