About the Role
This is an opportunity for a motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join an interdisciplinary team in the Department of Pediatrics, providing care to patients with hematologic and oncologic diagnoses. The role involves working as a collaborative member of the APP team, supporting the needs of the group, and covering the pediatric infusion center.
Responsibilities
- Evaluation and management of acute illness and chronic symptom management
- Follow-up care and coordination of services
- Patient and family education
- Provide coverage for the pediatric infusion center for all diagnoses
- Cross-coverage of patient visits and in-basket messages for other members of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology group
- Manage patients with conditions such as leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, iron deficiency, anemia, and anti-coagulation conditions
- Participate in the education of learners (students and new employees) using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing, and skill training
Candidates must be good decision-makers, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and adept at planning and prioritizing work while communicating efficiently in a team setting. Flexibility in approach and demeanor is essential to align with shifting demands.
Requirements
Nurse Practitioner
- Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing
- Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing
- Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner
Physician Assistant
- Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program
- Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing
- Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
NPs and PAs must demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness, customer relation skills, and computer competence. Priority will be given to those with pediatric hematology/oncology experience.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, primarily daytime hours with 4, 10-hour shifts available.
Pay
Compensation range: $98,508.00 - $132,995.00. Individual annual salaries will be set within this range, considering factors including market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity.
