About the role

The Patient Financial Navigator supports patients and their families in navigating financial issues throughout their care experience. This role works with a multidisciplinary team including patients and their families, physicians, nurses, social workers, and others to assist with understanding and navigating financial processes related to patient care. The position also collaborates with various payers, billing entities, and other partners across the care continuum.

Responsibilities

  • Educates patients and families regarding eligibility for programs such as Medicaid or other government programs, foundations, and other third-party support programs.
  • Investigates eligibility for Intermountain patient financial assistance programs, explains related requirements, and coordinates necessary financial assistance applications.
  • Communicates to patients and families regarding various sources of financial obligation related to their care and explains any potential patient obligation that may remain.
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues, health-related agencies, and foundations.
  • Accurately and efficiently completes necessary data forms.
  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills dealing with people of different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Exhibits strong communication and customer service skills while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Understands and is compliant with all state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the specific area of practice.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $19.41 - $28.14. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm may be flexible on schedule.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. Includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
