About the role

Renown Health and University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) are recruiting a Board Eligible/Board Certified Pediatric General Surgeon to join the largest multi-specialty department within the Renown Medical Group’s Department of Surgery. The incumbent will contribute to the Women’s and Children’s Service line strategy. The candidate has the potential of ascending to the Division Chief role of the future division of pediatric surgical specialties. The candidate will also have opportunity to qualify for an academic title within the University of Nevada School of Medicine department of Surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Women’s and Children’s Service line strategy.
  • Ascend to the Division Chief role of the future division of pediatric surgical specialties.
  • Qualify for an academic title within the University of Nevada School of Medicine department of Surgery.
  • Be a productive and participating member of the Department of Surgery Renown Medical Group under the leadership of the Chair of Surgery, Vice Chair of Surgery, teaching of medical students and residents, contribute to future strategy, and work closely with the pediatric service line leads in accomplishing identified strategies.
  • Work closely and in cooperation with the management staff, surgical colleagues, and UNR Medical School.
  • Participate in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follow policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff.
  • Stay abreast of current advances in Pediatric Surgery by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Requirements

  • Completed a General Surgery residency and Pediatric Surgery Fellowship with Board Certification or Eligibility.
  • Adequately focused general, ACS, and elective surgery experience with a minimum of three (3) years of pediatric general clinical surgery practice experience, pediatric trauma, and surgical oncology.

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Nevada.
  • Must be eligible for licensure in the state of California.
