Pediatric Cardiologist-Per Diem-Hartford, CT

About the Role

Connecticut Children’s is Connecticut’s only dedicated healthcare system for children and is an academic free-standing children’s hospital affiliated with the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. The Cardiovascular Institute offers a full range of cardiovascular services from neonates to adults, including complex interventional cardiology, zero X-ray ablation, and a dedicated cardiac intensivist team. The program also features a newly developed fetal care center and an Adult Congenital Heart Disease program accredited by the Adult Congenital Heart Association.

We are seeking an academic pediatric cardiologist with clinical responsibilities spanning inpatient and outpatient cardiology services. This includes an active outpatient clinic and inpatient service for patients with a full range of cardiovascular diseases. The division has a dedicated inpatient cardiology team to maximize efficiency and improve quality of care. The cardiologist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including cardiac intensivists, cardiac surgery, NICU, inpatient services, and emergency medicine, to provide excellent patient care.

Faculty members are actively involved in education, including training pediatric cardiology fellows, medical students, pediatrics residents, and adult cardiology fellows. A faculty appointment is offered at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient and outpatient pediatric cardiology evaluations and testing, including interpretation of ECGs, echocardiograms, ambulatory electrocardiography, and exercise stress testing in infants, children, and adolescents.
• Maintain timely and complete chart notes, reports, and communication with primary care/referring physicians and other relevant subspecialty physicians.
• Maintain open and timely communication with patients, families, and guardians.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinical management initiatives with other divisions.
• Facilitate patient referrals.
• Participate in division and department quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in the planning and direction of health programs within the specialty.
• Conduct training or assist in the training of interns and resident physicians.
• Maintain varied hours on a rotated schedule with other physicians to ensure 24/7 on-call coverage during non-business hours.
• Comply with all billing, coding, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in divisional conferences, Department of Pediatrics grand rounds, morbidity and mortality conferences, and faculty development education.
• Maintain appropriate licensures and certifications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of medicine (MD or DO).
• Successful completion of a Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program.
• Licensed and registered in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut.
• Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Pediatric Cardiology.
• DEA with Controlled Substance registration required and must be maintained thereafter.
