About the role

The Berkshire Waldorf School, established in the northeast corridor, has been delivering Waldorf education for over five decades. In recent years, the school has undergone changes due to the pandemic, leadership transitions, and external pressures. Now, the school is seeking a Pedagogical Director who can lead the school's mission and ensure the well-being of the students.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the outward-facing member of the School Leadership with current parents, potential new admissions, alumni, and alumni parents, and the wider Berkshire Waldorf School community.
• Chairs the Council of Teachers and participates in relevant committees.
• Supervises, supports, and guides the faculty through regular individual meetings, classroom observations, professional development training, and a healthy evaluation process.
• Shepherds a large part of parent communication work.
• Supports the Director of Admissions in admissions events, retention activities, and building school enrollment.
• Maintains relationships with AWSNA, both in the region and on the continent.
• Upholds all school policies with integrity and grace.
• Continues the forward-looking work already underway.
• Moves the School forward under the umbrella of the School’s Strategic Plan.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years Waldorf teaching experience.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Waldorf Teaching certificate required, Masters in Waldorf Education preferred.
• Evidence of experience working collaboratively, successfully supervising and evaluating adults, and broadly understanding the basic financial elements of school operations.
• Excellent verbal and writing skills.
• Familiarity and comfort with Google Suite.
• Honesty, integrity, and a belief in sustaining Waldorf Education.

Qualifications

• Experience bringing the interests and contributions of students, families, and faculty into organizational planning and decision-making.
• Supervisory and mentoring skills for the full Faculty.
