About the Role

Hand in Hand Creating Community supports refugees, asylum seekers, and community members newly arriving in the Pacific Northwest by providing the social capital necessary for a successful transition to life in the U.S. through five response areas: Community Wellness, Community Aid, Community Education, and Community Legal Clinic. Each area is strengthened by volunteer and partner organizations fostered through our focus on Community Connection.

Peace and Unity Fest is a back-to-school event on Saturday, August 15, in SE Portland (Glenfair). This annual celebration includes backpack giveaways, clothing pickup, games, and more. Volunteers are needed for set-up, facilitation, and clean-up.

Schedule

• 10 AM – 12 PM: Set-up (*High Priority*)
• 12 PM – 4 PM: Facilitate / Help run event
• 4 PM – 5 PM: Clean-up (*High Priority*)

Responsibilities

• Assist with event set-up (e.g., arranging tables, decorations, and supplies)
• Facilitate activities during the event (e.g., games, distribution of backpacks/clothing)
• Support clean-up efforts after the event (e.g., packing materials, trash removal)

Qualifications

• Have attended a PRSG Volunteer Orientation
• Have completed a background check within the last year
