About the role
We are looking for a PDP Physical Performance Coach to join our team and play an important role in supporting the club's continued growth and success.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality gym-based and on-pitch physical performance provision for Academy PDP players within the U17–U21 age groups, aligned with the Academy philosophy and player development objectives.
- Support the implementation of the long-term athletic development (LTAD) programme to optimise player physical performance and development within the PDP.
- Carry out regular player profiling and physical testing to support individual player development plans.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, particularly the Academy Medical Department, to implement, deliver and support rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes for injured players in both gym-based and on-pitch settings.
- Implement athlete monitoring processes to support objective decision-making around player readiness to train and perform.
- Deliver recovery provisions to optimise player availability and performance.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to ensure the effective integration of physical performance practices within the football programme.
- Collect, analyse, and present physical performance data in a clear and meaningful manner to support decision-making processes.
- Apply evidence-based practice and current research within the daily delivery of the physical performance programme.
- Maintain the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of all players, both fit and injured.
- Demonstrate high levels of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- An undergraduate qualification in Sports Science and/or related degree from a recognised University.
- A postgraduate qualification specialising in Strength & Conditioning and/or related degree from a recognised University.
- UKSCA or NSCA Accredited.
- Valid and Enhanced FA DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) Check- Club to undertake this.
- Valid FA Safeguarding Certificate.
- Experience working in a professional sporting organisation in a sport science role.
- Experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of a sport science and S&C programme.
- Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, predominantly medical staff in a rehabilitation and return-to-play context.
- Experience with physical performance testing equipment and software (GPS, VALD, Teambuildr, etc.).
- Experience with data visualisation (Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Evidence of recent and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) within sport science, physical performance, and/or strength & conditioning.
