PD Physician Assistant
Per Diem position located at 355 Grand Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302.
About the Role
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an independent health care provider who coordinates care through collaboration with the attending Physician. The PA or APN provides care in accordance with the objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee. The main function of this role is to provide consistent, high-quality perioperative/postoperative care for all surgery patients. The APP will function as an active member of the surgery patient care team.
Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical examinations in preparation for surgical procedures.
- Order appropriate laboratory, radiologic, and special diagnostic tests and interpret and report to the surgical team.
- See emergent consults in the ED and treat conditions within the scope of the APP’s practice and experience when appropriate.
- Communicate complicated surgical emergencies and prepare appropriately for surgery.
- Assist with inpatient daily rounds as assigned, including:
- Insertion/discontinuing central lines (e.g., chest tubes, arterial lines).
- Wound dressing changes and bedside procedures.
- Insertion of temporary dialysis catheters.
- Daily physical exams and addressing patient concerns on the service.
- Thoroughly explain procedures to patients prior to testing.
- Perform appropriate interpretation of laboratory/diagnostic testing.
- Responsible for discharging patients in collaboration with the attending.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective communication, and time management.
- Perform duties independently and coordinate care with the bedside nurse, attending physician, and other consulting providers.
- Compassionately interact with patients across different areas of care.
Qualifications
Required (APN/NP):
- Current APN Certification.
- Current RN NJ state license.
- CDS and DEA certification.
- Current BLS/ACLS.
- RNFA Certification (*exception if Surgical NP certification has surgical assist built into program).
Required (Physician Assistant):
- Current Physician Assistant Certification.
- CDS and DEA certification.
- Current BLS/ACLS.
Preferred:
- Acute care certification.
- 3-5 years of acute care hospital experience.
Schedule
- Two shifts per month (including days, night shifts, weekends, and holidays).
Pay
The anticipated hourly wage range for this position is $57.69 - $93.41 per hour. The compensation offered will depend on the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
