Job Overview The Pharmacy Technician assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of the Registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical, and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups (including geriatrics, and adult). Qualifications Required: High School diploma or equivalent Preferred Previous hospital central experience is desirableAssociates degree preferredPrior pharmacy experience preferredPrior experience with dispensing in an institutional environment preferred Certifications And Licenses Required State of New Jersey Pharmacy Technician, CPhT preferred or must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Scheduling Requirements Flex ScheduleCoverage for day, evening and weekend shifts Essential Functions Assists in care and maintenance of departmental premises and equipmentCommunicates all discrepancies and information requested to a Registered PharmacistDisplays self initiative in anticipating and resolving daily work issuesFiles departmental records as appropriatePerforms dosage calculations and labels appropriatelyTechnician displays competency in maintaining, filing, troubleshooting, and running reports in PyxisUnder the direction of the Pharmacist, prepares medication for dispensing; maintains unit dose system; delivers drug orders; and maintains and demonstrates awareness of limitations of techniciansWillingness and flexibility to work alternating and rotating work schedules on short noticeWillingness to work with attention to detail with the realization that errors may have serious consequences.
