Job Overview

Performs basic/advanced therapeutic procedures as outlined under the scope of respiratory patient care service within the section of the policy procedure manual. Transcribes and implements physician orders. Uses basic oxygen advanced assessment skills and patient information to maintain awareness of patient care needs.

Responsibilities

• Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and supports life by administering inhalants and operating mechanical ventilators.
• Operates therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
• Administers respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage.
• Assists with breathing exercises.
• Monitors physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
• Directs treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.

Requirements

• Graduate of an NBRC school for respiratory care.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC.
• Licensed by New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care.

Preferred: Experience in respiratory care.
