About the role

The RN provides direct clinical patient care, assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per-shift basis, and oversees unit-level operations. The role supervises staff to whom appropriate care is delegated and is accountable to support the CNO in ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.

The RN coordinates and integrates patient care based on the nursing process, directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, quality improvement, and infection control, with the goal of discharging the patient with an optimum level of care provided.

The RN coordinates and plans patient care within the prescribed medical regime, administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy, and fulfills all HICS (Hospital Incident Command System) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed during emergencies and/or disasters.

Responsible for knowing the hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing (preferred).
• 1 year of RN experience for PRN status (required).
• Recent acute care experience (preferred).

Certifications

• Current license, certification, or registration to practice as an RN in the state of Texas (required).
• AHA BLS (required).
• AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP, if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire (required).
