PCT - Patient Care Technician

About the Role

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

  • Assist patients with ambulation as necessary, including helping them to a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom, or down the hall.
  • Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles.
  • Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
  • Report findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff and document necessary records.
  • Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.
  • Perform certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse, such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs.
  • Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
