About the role
Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a part-time, day shift position at Wood County Hospital. This role provides essential support to patients and the healthcare team by assisting with direct patient care, monitoring, and daily operational tasks under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care by performing activities of daily living, vital signs, point of care testing, skin care, and assist with cardiac monitoring.
- Document and communicate effectively by accurately recording care and observations in the clinical system and relaying patient information to the healthcare team in a timely manner.
- Perform clerical/secretarial functions such as answering the phone, arranging external transport, patient record preparation/assembly, filing, entering charges, contacting physicians, maintaining logs, scheduling tests and requests for services from other departments.
- Train and support new staff, demonstrating professionalism, and adapting to changing unit needs.
- Prepare, prevent, protect, and respond to support our culture of safety.
