About the role
Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks a PCB Designer to join their Chiller Controls Engineering team. This role is onsite in their JCI Advanced Engineering and Development Center in New Freedom, PA.
Responsibilities
- Design, test, and sustain electronic Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) and chiller control panels.
- Conduct architectural design, prototype build, functional testing, reliability testing, and ensure the product operates as expected with specific hardware requirements.
- Assist chiller team in developing, testing, and supporting chiller system controls, including selecting system components and interfacing them to electronic control panel I/O.
- Design and maintain PCBAs, including schematics and layouts using tools like Altium Designer.
- Design and maintain chiller control panels, incorporating enclosures, connectors, cables, HMIs, PCBAs, and other electronic components.
- Obtain agency approvals such as UL, CE, and FCC on printed circuit boards and electronic panels.
- Conduct and apply cost analyses to feasibility studies on proposed designs or modifications to existing designs.
- Create schedules reflecting project milestones and adhere to them.
- Integrate new and modify existing processes to cover all phases of the electronic development process.
- Provide guidance to drafters and product technical support and manufacturing factories on chiller control panel products.
- Understand and comply with quality policies, procedures, and instructions to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Civil Engineering (BSCE) or an Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic hardware design and development.
- Familiarity with printed circuit board assembly design, schematic, layout, and signal integrity tools based on Altium.
- Preferred experience with programmable logic.

Benefits
