Job Summary
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) plays a key role in delivering hands-on senior care, supporting residents with daily living activities, and promoting comfort, dignity, and overall well-being. Working closely with nurses and the healthcare team, PCAs help ensure exceptional care for residents in our lifecare community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper techniques
- Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse)
- Assist with meal support, nutrition, and hydration
- Observe and report changes in residents' condition to nursing staff
- Maintain accurate electronic and written documentation
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Escort residents to activities and promote engagement and quality of life
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality care
Qualifications
- CPR certification required
- Experience working with the geriatric or senior population preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated critical thinking and sound judgment
