This is a benefit-eligible, part-time, 24-hour Patient Care Assistant role for the Night (11p-7a) shift, eligible for a $750 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
• Take patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
• Perform patient care-related duties and clinical functions including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy.
• Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.
• Complete all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Assist patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding, as needed.
• Ensure that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.
• Retrieve equipment from other areas, set up equipment, clean equipment between patient use, and report malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
• Assist with admitting and discharging patients.
• Facilitate orientation of new PCA team members as directed.
• Interact with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively.
• Communicate with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition.
• Foster a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred).
• Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) (preferred).
• Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician (National Certification) (preferred).
• 0-1 year of experience working in patient care/elder care (preferred).
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong patient/customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.

Pay

$21.98 - $26.58/hourly (Grade 3).
