About the Role
Assists professional nursing personnel in providing patient care to a specific patient population. Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Licensed Nurse.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1 or more years experience in Medical Terminology (Preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire (Required)
- Emergency Center Employees: Crisis Response Training required within 6 months of hire (Required)
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to the nurses with direct-patient care.
- Communicate with and keep manager informed of unit activities, needs, and problems related to patient care.
- Maintain established departmental, unit, and hospital guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Follow established routines and utilize supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner.
- Implement and maintain factors related to safety and effectiveness of patient outcomes.
- Administer necessary actions to comply with daily patient hygiene standards.
- Document and submit required information and data in a timely fashion.
- Clearly and accurately document designated processes, policies, products, and service offerings.
- Ensure documentation is tailored to expected readers/users, uses correct terminology, and conforms to required style and format.
- Demonstrate technical skill in using equipment appropriate for the role.
- Understand equipment operation, maintain equipment in working order, and troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Use technology to increase productivity and adapt to new technology.
- Adhere to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission, and vision of the organization.
- Perform other duties as required and complete all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge in present areas of responsibility through self-education and attending ongoing educational programs.
- Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in-services, requirements, and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrate competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
- For non-clinical areas, attend training and demonstrate usage of age-specific customer service skills.
- Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
