About the Role
Alterra Mountain Company is seeking a Payroll Systems Analyst to support the Shared Services Payroll team. This role will support the day-to-day payroll operational needs of the Workday, Workday Time Tracking, and TeamDynamix/Fresh Service environment, including user support, ongoing enhancements, data changes, testing, reporting, and general platform and end-user support. The role also supports Global payroll leadership with strategic planning.
Responsibilities
- Participate as a team member to achieve successful support and enhancements of Workday HR/Payroll and Finance, and Workday Time Tracking
- Work with internal teams and vendor consultants to properly support Workday and other payroll applications
- Support the day-to-day operational needs of the Global Payroll Workday environment
- Support bi-weekly payrolls:
- Perform the "Complete through post settlement"
- Run payroll reports
- Adhere and update the Payroll Runbook as needed
- Perform daily configuration support of Payroll modules in Workday
- Partner with HRIS to monitor the Payroll Workday functional ticketing queue and provide troubleshooting support for end-user reported issues
- Develop and modify reports, analytics, metrics, and dashboards for payroll management and functional Workday users
- Assist in testing Workday major releases, identifying impact and enhancement opportunities, and communicating appropriately to payroll management and end users
- Monitor and process assigned integrations to outside systems in production
- Work with business units to prepare and upload Enterprise Interface Builders (EIBs) for mass data entry
- Actively participate in Workday Community to identify potential issues and new solutions
- Ensure all required Timekeeping tasks are met at all Alterra locations daily/weekly/per pay cycle
- Support fast-paced seasonal employee ramp-up and ramp-down
- Work a flex schedule, including weekends and seasonal holidays
- Support assigned Timekeepers at multiple U.S. and Canada locations
- Monitor resort activity to ensure employee time is accurately recorded and complete
- Responsible for timekeeping for Corporate-Denver employees, ensuring timely processing of all time records
- Work with local timekeepers/managers to resolve errors (e.g., missed punches, meal break adjustments, job/schedule changes)
- Assist supervisors and employees with edits or questions regarding Workday Time Tracking (WDTT) and escalate issues to HRIS as needed
- Partner with local Timekeepers to provide training for new or replacement timekeepers
- Assist the Payroll Specialist in researching and resolving payroll discrepancies related to the general ledger caused by time entry
- Assist the Tax Analyst with information for internal and external audits related to time entry
- Support HRIS during system upgrades/enhancements, including testing, updating SOPs/checklists/reports, and communicating changes to Timekeepers
- Work independently with a strong team spirit, take ownership of assigned tasks, and communicate status accurately
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 3–5 years of payroll professional experience
- 2+ years of Workday or other payroll application end-user support
- Payroll or HR implementation experience
- Experience working in a multi-state, multi-entity payroll environment
- Full understanding of payroll withholding tax guidelines and requirements
- Strong working knowledge of payroll laws and processes
- Strong business analysis experience, including requirements gathering, testing, and documentation
- Demonstrated competency in documenting solutions for technical and functional audiences
- Experience with testing, including definition and execution of test plans and scenarios
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- General knowledge of Finance General Ledger & Accounting Principles
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple tasks in a complex and fast-changing environment
- Self-motivated, able to learn quickly, and work independently
- Able to multi-task and manage concurrent tasks
- Team-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, information technology, or similar field, or equivalent 5+ years' experience
- Diploma or certificate in Payroll management or information technology
Preferred Experience
- Experience in Workday, ADP Smart Compliance
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word)
- CPP Payroll certification
Pay
Denver area base salary range: $58,000 – $81,000 per year. The range represents the low and high end of the salary for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, training, location, merit system, production, responsibilities, and travel. The range is one component of the total compensation package, which may also include short-term and long-term incentives and region-specific benefits.
