About the Role
The Payroll Specialist oversees the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This role also assists in data entry accounting tasks and supports other accounting staff as needed.
Responsibilities
- Handle all payroll preparation, processing, and record maintenance.
- Manage bi-weekly payroll, including time entry, direct deposits, and paycheck distribution.
- Collaborate with supervisors to correct payment errors.
- Process employee garnishments.
- Track benefit accruals, including vacation and sick leave.
- Assist Human Resources in identifying and correcting employee data errors in ADP.
- Ensure ADP has paid all tax deposits.
- Prepare payroll reports for outside agencies as required.
- Generate payroll-related general ledger journal entries.
- Complete quarterly and year-end tax reporting, including W-2s.
- Gather receipts and code credit card statements for entry into the accounting system.
- Prepare weekly and end-of-month bank reconciliations.
- Assist with backlog accounting tasks from other staff as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Microsoft Office experience.
- Must pass a security background check.
- Previous experience processing payroll.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in tourism.
- Associate’s degree and/or three years of accounting experience.
- Broad technical knowledge of accounting functions and processes.
