About the role

Our client, within the construction industry, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support their team. This role operates within a fast-paced environment with the opportunity to work directly with executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle weekly payroll for 300 employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Review, audit, and validate timesheets for accuracy, identifying and resolving discrepancies prior to payroll submission
  • Perform detailed job costing and labor allocations across multiple projects to support accurate financial tracking and reporting
  • Process payroll adjustments including bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and benefit withholdings while ensuring proper documentation
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes
  • Reconcile payroll reports, general ledger accounts, and payroll-related balances to ensure accuracy and audit readiness
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including payroll accruals, reporting, and preparation of payroll tax filings (W-2s, 941s, etc.)

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the construction industry
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS)

Preferred

  • Experience with certified payroll and union employees
