Payroll SOX Control Analyst # 26-13630

Responsibilities

• Provide subject-matter expertise to ensure US payroll processes, systems, and controls comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and internal compliance policies.
• Work closely with the Human Capital Management Project, Payroll Operations, Finance, and Internal Audit teams to assess, remediate, and document control effectiveness as we transition to new payroll technology.
• Identify, assess, and document key controls related to payroll.
• Stand up control testing.
• Develop and maintain control narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices for audit evidence.
• Recommend and implement remediation actions for control deficiencies; track remediation status.
• Document and provide guidance on payroll system changes to ensure SOX compliance is embedded in design.
• Assist in risk assessments and updating of SOX control framework.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions to payroll staff on control responsibilities and documentation standards.
• Assist in preparing status reports and dashboards for senior leadership and compliance lead.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of payroll operations experience in a US-based organization, 3+ years of direct SOX testing experience, preferably within Payroll or HRIS.
• Proficiency with payroll systems - SAP Employee Central Payroll, SAP Employee Central.
• Strong Excel/Power Query abilities.
• Proficiency in internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex issues to non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Payroll principles & processes.

Desired Skills

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
• Strong SAP Employee Central systems experience.
• Experience with DCMA, DCAA, Internal-Audit, and SAP Payroll compliance.
• Previous leadership experience.
• Advanced MS Excel skills with proficiencies in using Excel related capabilities to build and automate data.
• Demonstrated staff level accounting skills confirmed through related work experience.
