Responsibilities
- Provide subject-matter expertise to ensure US payroll processes, systems, and controls comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and internal compliance policies.
- Work closely with the Human Capital Management Project, Payroll Operations, Finance, and Internal Audit teams to assess, remediate, and document control effectiveness as we transition to new payroll technology.
- Identify, assess, and document key controls related to payroll.
- Stand up control testing.
- Develop and maintain control narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices for audit evidence.
- Recommend and implement remediation actions for control deficiencies; track remediation status.
- Document and provide guidance on payroll system changes to ensure SOX compliance is embedded in design.
- Assist in risk assessments and updating of SOX control framework.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions to payroll staff on control responsibilities and documentation standards.
- Assist in preparing status reports and dashboards for senior leadership and compliance lead.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of payroll operations experience in a US-based organization, 3+ years of direct SOX testing experience, preferably within Payroll or HRIS.
- Proficiency with payroll systems - SAP Employee Central Payroll, SAP Employee Central.
- Strong Excel/Power Query abilities.
- Proficiency in internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex issues to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Payroll principles & processes.
Desired Skills
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
- Strong SAP Employee Central systems experience.
- Experience with DCMA, DCAA, Internal-Audit, and SAP Payroll compliance.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Advanced MS Excel skills with proficiencies in using Excel related capabilities to build and automate data.
- Demonstrated staff level accounting skills confirmed through related work experience.
