Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population, ensuring timely and accurate completion of each pay cycle.
- Act as the primary resource for interpreting union contract terms and applying them correctly to payroll practices and employee pay outcomes.
- Evaluate timekeeping and attendance records to confirm proper hours, pay calculations, and adherence to scheduled work rules.
- Administer payroll changes such as retroactive earnings, bonuses, garnishments, leave-related adjustments, and other special payments as needed.
- Oversight the setup and processing of payroll taxes, benefit deductions, union withholdings, and other mandatory deductions in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Prepare payroll-related reports for leadership, audits, and compliance purposes, ensuring data is complete and reliable.
- Maintain organized employee payroll records and supporting documentation while protecting confidential information.
- Cook up year-end payroll activities, including statement review, corrections, and final reporting requirements.
- Support additional payroll and compliance duties as business needs require.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of payroll experience, including responsibility for complex payroll operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in full-cycle payroll processing for large workforces of more than 500 employees.
- Experience managing multi-state payroll and maintaining compliance with applicable wage and tax requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of union payroll practices and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and payroll-related reporting tools.
- Background processing bi-monthly payroll with a high degree of accuracy and attention to deadlines.
- Ability to handle sensitive employee and compensation information with discretion and professionalism.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Knowledge of labor laws and collective bargaining agreements.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
