We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead accurate and compliant payroll operations for our team in Lafayette, Louisiana. This position plays a central role in ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time while supporting strong reporting, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing on assigned pay cycles, ensuring timely and accurate payment for all employees.
- Review employee data changes, including onboarding updates, separations, compensation adjustments, and benefit deductions, to maintain reliable payroll records.
- Verify earnings calculations such as regular pay, overtime, incentive compensation, and other applicable payments before finalizing each payroll run.
- Monitor tax withholdings, garnishments, child support orders, and other mandatory deductions to ensure proper administration and compliance.
- Reconcile payroll registers and related reports, investigate variances, and correct issues in partnership with internal stakeholders.
- Prepare payroll summaries and supporting documentation for leadership, accounting, and audit needs.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions involving pay, timekeeping, and deductions, providing clear and attentive support.
- Partner with Human Resources and Finance to keep employee information aligned across systems and ensure payroll data remains current.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including tax reporting, W-2 preparation, and audit documentation while safeguarding sensitive employee information.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of payroll experience, including responsibility for full-cycle processing.
- Working knowledge of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and wage and hour compliance standards.
- Experience using payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Paychex, Workday, Payroll4Construction, or comparable systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications for reporting and analysis.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume payroll data accurately.
- Effective analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly with employees and cross-functional teams while handling confidential information with discretion.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
