About the Opportunity

The Payroll Manager oversees and optimizes global payroll operations as the organization continues to expand internationally. Reporting to the Controller, this role ensures accurate payroll processing, compliance with applicable regulations, data integrity, and effective payroll administration across multiple jurisdictions. The position works closely with HR, Finance, and other teams to maintain reliable payroll and financial operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, review, and validate payroll data for the U.S., Canada, U.K., and other Employer of Record payrolls.
• Process final paychecks, payroll adjustments, and special payments.
• Approve employee expense reports in accordance with company policies.
• Manage the company travel platform for employees and guests.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international payroll laws and regulations.
• Maintain accrued PTO schedules in accordance with applicable local requirements.
• Audit payroll tax records and resolve discrepancies.
• Lead annual audits related to 401(k) and workers' compensation and support financial statement audits.
• Create and maintain payroll procedures, process documentation, and internal controls.
• Perform account reconciliations between payroll records and financial accounts.
• Prepare payroll-related journal entries and support general ledger maintenance.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries promptly, accurately, and professionally.
• Monitor changes in global tax and payroll regulations that may affect company processes.
• Prepare payroll reports and analysis for internal stakeholders.
• Administer payroll systems, maintain data integrity, and coordinate system upgrades.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments regarding payroll and employee information.
• Maintain accurate employee data across HRIS, payroll, and related systems.
• Manage employee benefit allocations and program tracking.
• Conduct monthly payroll expense fluctuation and variance analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• More than 6 years of payroll experience, preferably in SaaS or startup environments.
• Proven experience working as a Payroll Manager or in an equivalent senior payroll role.
• Proficiency with the Rippling payroll system.
• Experience managing payroll across multiple subsidiaries and jurisdictions.
• Knowledge of global payroll compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with HRIS and payroll providers such as Rippling, Vistra, and Remote.
• Strong understanding of account reconciliation and general ledger processes.
• Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple deadlines.
• Proficiency with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel preferred.

Pay Range

Base salary range of $125,000–$150,000 USD per year, depending on experience.
